The Urban Teaching Apprenticeship, M.S.Ed. program establishes a path to a teaching career and also provides students the opportunity to receive a Pennsylvania state teacher certificate. The coursework explores the deep historical and sociological structures that shape communities and schools as well as strategies to become leaders capable of advocating for all students, especially marginalized populations.

The Urban Teaching Apprenticeship is designed specifically for those who wish to enter the teaching field for the first time. Students in this program train in a mentor teacher's classroom as an apprentice, completing degree coursework in conjunction with over 800 hours of student teaching. Extending over 10 months, UTAP is a full-time program covering 11 courses within three tracks: Elementary, Middle, and Secondary Education.
