Master’s Degree Programs
Statistics, Measurement, Assessment, and Research Technology (SMART)
10 Month Program
The SMART program is designed to prepare individuals for work in research and assessment organizations in the fields of education, psychology, and related human services.
→
The curriculum emphasizes the importance of quality of evidence, statistical analysis, assessment, and psychometrics—as well as the use of research technology in producing evidence to inform policy and practice. In addition to the coursework and a written general examination, students in the M.S.Ed. degree program are strongly encouraged to undertake a research apprenticeship.
The degree can be completed in as little as one academic year of full-time study, though students can opt to earn their degree through part-time study as well.
Graduates of the SMART program go on to become researchers and statistical analysts in school districts, government agencies, research centers, educational testing companies, and more.

16 Month Program
This fully online program prepares graduates to work as data scientists in research and development in areas such as at-risk prediction, intelligent tutoring systems, and educational recommender systems.
→
The program teaches you both the latest learning analytics algorithms and tools as well as how to engineer data streams to turn raw data into interpretable and valuable features. Successful use of learning analytics depends on understanding both algorithms and learning, including the social context that surrounds learning.
Build highly functional and ethically sound ways to perform measurement, analysis, predictive modeling, and identify algorithmic bias. Technically valid and responsible data collection and analysis practices are critical to developing impactful educational systems.
